The New Mastersounds are a four piece jam band made up of Eddie Roberts on guitar, Simon Allen on drums Pete Shan on bass and Joe Tatton on keys. They have been playing together since they released their first rehearsal as a single in 2000. Family Groove Company is self-described as “groove-informed jazz/rock from Chicago.” They combine the sensibility developed by funk/jazz crossover artists like Herbie Hancock and Medeski, Martin, and Wood, with thoughtful songwriting that takes cues from the likes of Steely Dan and the Beatles.
