$1 Shows + Soul Summit 2 Year Anniversary + Corrosion of Conformity!

Happy New Year!

We had an absolute blast at our NYE show. Thanks to everyone who came out. Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears, DeRobert and the Half-Truths, and The Soul Summit DJs turned this place into a giant dance party and it was one we won’t soon forget. Check out The Soul Summit’s Facebook photo album from the show:
The Soul Summit DJ Team of Dave Mata, Duke Grip, and Sloppy White will be back here for their Two-Year Annivesrary Party on Saturday, January 21st. The show is FREE and it will feature guest DJs Meaty Ogre and Dreas. A free dance party on a Saturday night in January sounds like a good deal to us!
Speaking of January… Let’s be honest. It kind of sucks. The holidays are over. The weather is getting colder. The days are approximately three hours long. Summer seems so far away. But, there are still plenty of great reasons to go out and catch some live music. That’s why we’re doing $1 shows in January.
Starting with tonight’s show, admission is just a buck. We have a great local lineup with the spacey, reverb-drenched shoegaze/dreampoppers Lightfoils, Bluegrass-Pop-Rockers Battlestations, experimental indie rock band Tribe of The Mountain, and classic powerpop rock band Viceroy. The show starts at 8:30pm.
The $1 show party continues tomorrow night with Eat That Plastic, Thrift Store Heroes, Cenobites, Eske, I Attack, and The Deeper End. That show starts at 8pm. Eat That Plastic is a new heavy rock band from Chicago. Drawing influences from 90s grunge acts such as Soundgarden, ETP keeps their edges rough. On Saturday, we are hosting the highly ambitious 5 Step Drop. Their goal is simple: Get people to listen to full albums instead of singles. Their album is a melodic, muscular chunk of rock and metal. Expect an “all killer, no filler” set from these guys, and plenty of double bass drum kicks and arena rock sized guitar solos. Man The Mighty and Sand support. The show starts at 9pm. Check out 5 Step Drop’s “Solitude”: http://www.reverbnation.com/play_now/song_7528279
Our week ends with another $1 show on Wednesday, January 11: Little Big Fat, Bobcat Williams, Michael Lux and the Bad Sons, Common Shiner, and Simpleton & Cityfolk. Check out Little Big Fat’s improv-heavy, jammy rock on their live video (recorded here, nice) of their song “Southern Rock.”: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDPVoQg2UNE
We also have a new show going on sale this Saturday at noon: Corrosion of Conformity, Torche, Valient Thorr, and A Storm of Light. CoC has been around for decades, and they are going to be back this year with a new self-titled record, recorded at Dave Grohl’s home studio and featuring their original three-piece hardcore lineup of Mike Dean, Woody Weatherman and Reed Mullin. Based on the strength of the entire bill, our guess is that shit’s going to get pretty crazy here. EDIT: That show is happening on March 7! Get tickets at Ticketfly.com starting Saturday at noon.
One last thing worth noting: The weather this weekend is supposed to be in the 40s and 50s, and sunny. So maybe January weather isn’t so bad after all.
Thanks,
Dan
