Since the tender age of 13, Aly has been forging her way as a musician, playing screeching guitar solos in punk and metal bands, while dreaming of rock and roll stardom. But her impressive pipes were the reason she was hand-selected to compete in front of a national audience on Fox’s popular talent search “American Idol” in 2011, and NBC’s hit vocal competition “The Voice” in 2012. Still, Aly has kept her eye on the prize and her home-town roots strong, playing monthly residencies to her loyal fans all throughout the city while continuing to write and record. She recently even enlisted a few of her biggest fans to act as extra’s in the music video for her gritty rock single “Waiting,” which has caused an online buzz with its dark imagery and hauntingly catchy hooks.
Aly’s debut EP Don’t Come Easy was recorded and released by Cassette Company Records in February 2012, and most nights you still can catch her, with her trusty Les Paul slung over her shoulder by a Kiss guitar strap, rocking rooms all throughout Chicago.
Four Petibone members, Jeff Eccles (bass/vocal), Bart McCartin (keys), and brothers Matt Radostits (trumpet) and Chris Radostits (drums/vocal), began writing songs together over 20 years ago. Now joined by Pat Marron (lead guitar) and front man Karl Miles (lead vocal, guitar, trombone), they write and create a sound that is unequivocally their own. Both separately and collectively, the members of this group have played with or alongside numerous noteworthy artists such as: Smash Mouth, Lenny Kravitz, Jay Bennett of Wilco, Local H, Seven Mary Three, Banyan, Mr. Blotto, Dread Zepplin, The Bad Examples, Michael McDermott, The Amazing Kappa, Pompous Lily, The Jack Dempseys, FireBug, Timebomb Taxi, Bellsize, and many others.
Petibone is preparing to start a new chapter. They have just finished recording their debut full length album entitled 'Unwound', which they are releasing independently as a testament to all their hard work over the last two years. Now that the CD is released and currently available for sale and download at petibone.com, iTunes, CDBaby, Amazon, LastFM, and more, the band is currently planning a summer US and UK tour, while continuing to play shows for anyone and everyone into the New Year. So be ready and gear up for the undeniable wall of sound that is Petibone as they make a name for themselves.
Emily “Brushes” Roth’s lead vocals are almost as smooth and soulful as the fro she rocks on-stage. On most days, you can catch her humming along to Sam Cooke, Raphael Saadiq, Lauryn Hill and other powerful voices. An important rule growing up in the Roth home was that if you wanted three meals a day, you had to play an instrument. So to avoid starvation the young Miss Roth tried the piano and cello before falling in love with the guitar. After having played in a blues band in high school, Emily took her new passion for music to such places as Venezuela, Ghana and the UK. She now finds herself in Chicago with a new group of amazing musicians and enough inspiration to last for years. She views music as mankind’s universal language and hopes to sooth souls all over the globe!
Michael Lang - Bass/Vocals
Born Miguel Sanchez, Michael immigrated to the United States in 1983 with a simple dream of finding a job and making enough money to send for the rest of his family. None of that worked out, so he became a musician instead. Living and performing in Chicago for the past 8 years, Michael has played in numerous groups ranging a wide variety of genres and styles. You may catch him laying back in a deep groove rocking out on just the root, or slapping his bass like he’s trying to break it right in half. Either way a melodic constant seems to find it’s way into Michael’s bass lines, while an almost metronomic inner pulse allows him to play with the rhythm around the guitar and drums.
Sean Grabiner - Guitar/Vocals
After finding his mother’s Gibson J-45 in the closet of his childhood home Sean was convinced he had found his calling. Over the years Sean has studied with more teachers than he can remember but he knows deep down that their teachings and guidance reside in every note he plays. These teachers have come from a variety of backgrounds that include but are not limited to rock, blues, and jazz. As Sean’s musical tastes have evolved over time his playing has kept pace. The result is an exceptionally versatile guitarist who can feel as comfortable sitting back and playing rhythm as he is soloing over anything thrown his way. His proudest moment? Helping bandmate Miguel Sanchez obtain his green card.
Paul Shallcross - Drums
From banging on trash cans in the driveway to performing, recording, composing and writing, Paul Shallcross has been immersed in music and creativity since the dawn of his time. Studying under a slew of musicians throughout the midwest as well as graduating cum laude at McNally Smith College of Music, Paul has developed himself into, what some call, a renaissance man. With a primary focus on drums, he also indulges in other instruments, including guitar, bass, piano, and vocals. Currently, Paul works at Comma Music running their music library, Implement, and recording as a studio musician. He performs with the soul/funk group Em & Them, as well as writing hip hop tracks, short stories and laid-back, reggae-infused songs. His love of almost all musical genres keeps his mind open and his style ever changing, but, no matter what he's playing or where he's performing, Paul strives to encompass a rawness and honesty that makes music timeless.
